AMD 6800K APU Benchmarks – 27/01/14
Currently being used as a server processor, I decided to test the abilities of the integrated graphics. I wanted to see how the APU preforms in a very basic game that requires low graphics processing power, and wanted to see if an APU based gaming machine was worth the price/performance.
Starting off is the bench test configuration. We will be using two different speeds of RAM in order to test to variable difference of VRAM.
APU: AMD 6800K Engineering Sample
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-F2A85XM-D3H Micro ATX FM2
RAM: 8GB Corsair vengeance LP @1600MHz 2x4gb// 8GB Crucial Sport @1333MHz 4x2Gb
Storage: 500GB Seagate Harddrive 7200RPM 16MB cache
PSU: OCZ ZS Series 550 watt Bronze certified PSU
OS: Windows 8.1 x64 with latest drivers installed
Display Driver: 13.251
We will be benchmarking based on League of Legends maps.
The first configuration consisted of a downclocked APU running at 2.1GHz, 1333MHz RAM
The downclocking of the APU heavily limits the FPS, but the game remains playable. ALL SETTINGS ARE MAXED OUT.
Next up is the Corsair Vengeance 1600MHz RAM.
I changed the setting in Howling Abyss to run lower map detail (the snow really affected it) and got a pretty consistent 60 FPS, with occasional drops to around 55 but rarely noticeable.
With V-Sync ON, you wont get any noticeable FPS lag.
In conclusion, I am VERY impressed with the APU. I have tested the AMD A8 3850 APU running with low graphics and 1333 ram, you get pretty decent frames. Hoped this helped!
